Medical Assistant Floater

Location: Rockville, MD and Frederick, MD

Responsibilities

Assists in the delivery of health care and patient care management. Reports directly to the MA Manager/Clinical Quality Assurance Manager, Office Manager, and Director of Clinical Practices. No supervisory responsibilities.

• Checks patient electronic health record to ensure Physicians’ notes, lab work, X‑ray reports, outside tests, and other Physicians’ reports are in the chart before taking patient back to exam room.
• Prepares patient for examination and treatment.
• Takes brief histories, checks vital signs and reviews Phreesia pre‑visit for accuracy, and compiles patient’s list of medications.
• Assists with Iovera, injections, aspirations, and ultrasound.
• Administers and documents routine immunizations.
• Prepares patients by ordering X‑rays or other procedures if determined by physicians’ notes.
• Gives injections, performs phlebotomy, fits patients with orthopedic appliances, splints, and dressings.
• Follows protocols in the care and maintenance of medical equipment in office.
• Prepares exam rooms with necessary instruments and supplies.
• Schedules patients for outside testing.
• Obtains pre‑authorization for MRIs and other patient outside diagnostics tests as required.
• Returns calls to patients per Physician request.
• Follows medication refill protocols when checking RX request voicemail.
• Acts as the liaison between triage, call center and the physicians they work with.
• Instructs patients to give themselves injections.
• Instructs
