Medical Assistant Float PRN, Front and Back Office (Travel Required)

Essential Functions

  • Room patients, take vitals, and collect patient histories.
  • Assist in examinations and treatment of patients under provider direction.
  • Administer injections and vaccinations; perform phlebotomy as needed.
  • Start IVs as needed for testing and clinical procedures.
  • Administer and obtain EKGs, and identify/report abnormal findings to the supervising provider.
  • Process prescription refills and complete patient callbacks.
  • Prepare patients for cardiac stress tests by explaining procedures, obtaining consent, starting IVs as needed, and attaching electrodes and other monitoring equipment.
  • Provide patients with pre- and post-test instructions, including recovery procedures and safety guidelines.
  • Maintain patients’ vital signs, including heart rate, blood pressure, ECG/EKG, and oxygen saturation throughout stress testing, and recognize any abnormalities or signs of distress.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team and report findings to the supervising cardiologist or provider.
  • Clean and restock exam/procedure rooms between visits to maintain infection control standards.
  • Update and maintain accurate patient records in the EMR system; eClinicalWorks preferred.
  • Perform front-desk duties, including greeting and checking in patients, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance, collecting co-pays, and handling payments.
  • Provide administrative and clerical support at the corporate office in Dallas, near 635 & Greenville/Abrams, between practice assignments.
  • Maintain HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support the clinical team and practice operations.

Skills and Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Medical Assistant diploma from an accredited program preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Medical Assistant in both front and back-office settings.
  • Strong phlebotomy, injection, and IV-starting skills required.
  • Proficient in administering and obtaining EKGs, with the ability to recognize and report abnormal findings.
  • Experience assisting with cardiac stress testing preferred.
  • BLS, CPR, and First Aid certifications required.
  • EMR experience required; eClinicalWorks preferred.
  • NCT certification preferred but not required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Reliable transportation, valid Texas driver’s license, and proof of minimum vehicle liability insurance required.
  • Willing and able to travel locally throughout the Dallas area.
