Peachtree Immediate Care has an immediate opening for a Certified Medical Assistant at our Fayetteville location. Full-time position with three, 12-hour shifts and a rotating weekend shift. Must be willing to float between the Fayetteville, Newnan, and Sharpsburg Clinics when needed.

About the role

The Clinical Support Team assists the Physician, Physician Assistant (PA, PA-C), or Nurse Practitioner (NP, FNP) in delivering medical care in Urgent Care and Occupational Medicine. Day-to-day activities include patient intake, lab work, general x-rays, administering medication, and assisting in minor surgery.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate high-level interpersonal and communication skills to greet patients and staff professionally.
  • Perform duties within the scope of practice while maintaining compliance with quality control measures.
  • Maintain equipment and exam rooms in a clean, safe condition.
  • Prepare patients for examination and treatment, documenting complaints, vital signs, medications, and allergies.
  • Initiate patient care before provider examination according to standing orders.
  • Perform lab tests, administer medications (PO, SQ, IM, intradermal, eye/ear drops, topical), and perform venipuncture as directed.
  • Follow procedures for Occupational Health services and radiographic image collection, where applicable.
  • Provide direct patient care as instructed by the provider and assist in minor surgeries.
  • Obtain proper consents, prepare supplies, and perform wound care as instructed.
  • Assist with scheduling tests, treatments, and referrals, and answer patient questions to allay fears.
  • Exhibit cooperation with other departments and follow medication administration and narcotic control procedures.
  • Communicate concerns about medical care through the chain of command and suggest improvements for work methods.
  • Review discharge instructions with patients and answer telephone calls per department standards.
  • Complete routine equipment checks, stock supplies, and notify staff of ordering needs.
  • Attend in-service training, educational conferences, and quarterly staff meetings.
  • Maintain current knowledge and skills and adhere to safety and infection control standards.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school for Medical Assistant (certification preferred). LPNs, EMTs, Basic Machine Operators, and Radiologic Technologists must have applicable current State licensure.
  • Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
  • Reliable transportation to commute to assigned regional offices.
  • Ability to work independently, as part of a team, and in a high-paced facility.
  • Ability to escort or transport patients by wheelchair when appropriate.
  • Willingness to work all shifts, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Detail-oriented with strong interpersonal communication skills.

Experience

Preferred minimum of 1-2 years in an outpatient or clinic setting.

Schedule

  • Full-time: Three, 12-hour shifts per week with a rotating weekend shift.
  • Clinics are open seven days a week from 8 am - 8 pm.

  • Holiday and weekend work may be required based on department needs.
