When providing hands-on care, you'll room patients, obtain vitals, and triage. When not providing hands-on care, you'll perform non-clinical duties.
Schedule
- Full-time, 40-hour week
- Clinic hours: Monday – Thursday 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM, Friday 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Occasional Saturdays
- During initial training: Monday – Friday 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for exams and treatments by taking and recording vital signs, symptoms, and other measurements; document chief complaint and pain scores
- Report changes in patient condition to clinicians
- Assist providers with exams and minor in-office procedures, including blood pressure, respiration, heart rate, temperature, phlebotomies, ear irrigation, and EKGs
- Act as a chaperone as needed
- Use universal blood and body fluid precautions and personal protective equipment
- Prioritize patient flow through the clinical process
- Coordinate and manage patient care, including pre-certifications, referrals, authorizations, prescriptions, and scheduling for clinic, hospital, and ancillary treatments
- Communicate test results to patients
- Act as a resource to clinicians to optimize patient care
- Administer medications in accordance with established policies and procedures
- Provide clerical support, including patient notifications and documentation of medical records, labs, authorizations, X-rays, and hospital records
- Ensure complete and accurate billing information for patient encounters
- Maintain a clean and functional environment, including disinfection of equipment, exam rooms, and storage areas
- Follow manufacturer recommendations and OSHA guidelines for handling hazardous substances
- Perform basic maintenance of equipment and coordinate repairs
- Order and stock supplies for patient care areas
- Manage medication ordering, expired medications, equipment, and recalls
- Develop and maintain effective communication with external and internal customers
- Complete onboarding, orientation, and simulation training as required
Requirements
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge
- Completion of an approved medical assistant training program as defined by state regulations
- Active Medical Assistant Certification required (e.g., RMA, CMA, CCMA, NCMA)
- BLS certification required
- Strong computer skills, including experience with medical software
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple changing priorities effectively and organized
Employees working in behavioral health clinical settings serving children must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain it for the duration of employment. An Arizona Criminal History Affidavit must be signed upon hire.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with office medical procedures, treatments, and knowledge of insurance and managed care operations
- Experience with EMR and scheduling software
