About the role

Under direct supervision of the provider and nursing leadership, the Medical Assistant performs a variety of administrative and clinical tasks to assist in the quality and compassionate care provided to patients.

Responsibilities

  • Greeting and escorting patients to the exam room
  • Obtaining medical histories
  • Measuring and recording vital signs
  • Preparing patients for examination/procedure
  • Assisting the provider during the examination/procedure

Requirements

  • Experience with Family Medicine, phlebotomy, point of care testing, EKG, and vaccine administration
  • Ability to work self-sufficiently and as a team player
  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
  • Basic computer knowledge and keyboarding skills (preferred)
  • Ability to perform a wide variety of clinical skills related to ambulatory patient care (preferred)
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills (preferred)
  • EPIC (Electronic Medical Record) experience (preferred)

Qualifications

One of the following:

  • Graduate of a Medical Assistant program with completion of a formal clinical externship (160-hour minimum)
  • Graduate from a Medical Assistant program without a clinical externship but with a minimum of one year of clinical medical assisting experience within the past five years
  • Current professionally recognized Medical Assistant Certification with a minimum of one year of clinical medical assisting experience
  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
  • Licensed Paramedic/Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) with at least one year of clinical experience in a medical setting within the past five years
  • Military-trained medical personnel with at least one year of clinical experience in a medical setting within the past five years

Certifications/Licensures Required

  • Current BLS-C upon hire or successful completion by end of orientation

Schedule

  • Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Wednesday: 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Friday: 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
