Medical Assistant Family Medicine

This position is based at Bountiful Family Medicine, working with a family medicine provider who also does OB/GYN. We are looking for an adaptable and flexible candidate willing to assist in other areas as needed.

About the role

As a Medical Assistant at Intermountain Health, you will play a vital role in supporting our clinical team, ensuring patients receive the best care. This includes providing care to patients with acute and chronic needs in an ambulatory clinic setting, communicating clearly through telephone and in-person interactions, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care under the direction of the clinician by assisting the provider to gather information relevant to the patient’s visit and condition.
• Communicate clearly with patients through various modalities, including telephone and in-person interactions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure comprehensive patient care.
• Demonstrate attention to detail and follow-through in all aspects of patient care.

Requirements

• Proof of completion of a Medical Assistant program or at least one year of Medical Assistant work experience or current active and in good standing RN/LPN license to practice nursing in the state of Utah.
• Current Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers (must be obtained prior to start date).
• Demonstrated basic computer skills, including word processing and data entry.
• Professional manner with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with patients and fellow caregivers to deliver high levels of customer/patient satisfaction.
• Ability to protect privacy, confidentiality, and Protected Health Information (PHI) of patients, members, and caregivers.
• Utah Only: If certified with less than one year of MA experience, caregivers may attend a yearlong MA residency program.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in an outpatient clinic or other healthcare setting.
• Computer literacy in using electronic medical records (EMR) systems and other relevant software.
• Current national MA certification from one of the following: Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) of AMT, National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) of the AAMA.

Physical Requirements

• Ongoing need to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, and identify equipment and supplies.
• Frequent interactions requiring clear verbal communication, hearing, and understanding of spoken information, alarms, and needs, especially during emergencies.
• Manual dexterity for complex and delicate equipment, including frequent computer use and typing for documentation and medication preparation.
• Ability to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients, bend to retrieve and carry supplies, and lift heavy items.
• Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients, pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items.
• Ability to navigate crowded and busy rooms with equipment and power cords on the floor.
• May be required to stand in a stationary position for extended periods.
• For roles requiring driving: Ability to drive a vehicle, including sitting, seeing, and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.

Schedule

40 hours per week, full time. Clinic hours are Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM–6:00 PM. Scheduled shifts typically consist of 4 ten-hour shifts per week, with one weekday off.

Pay

The hourly range for this position is $20.07 - $28.59, dependent upon experience.
