About the role

Our Family Medicine practice delivers high-volume, patient-centered primary care with a strong focus on access, efficiency, and preventive health. The Medical Assistant plays a vital role in supporting physicians and Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) by providing both clinical and administrative support that ensures smooth daily operations and exceptional patient experiences. Located at the Care Center Lakewood, 588 E Lakewood, Holland, within the Internal Medicine Lakewood Care Center – Medical Group West.

As a Medical Assistant with Corewell Health, you'll be a member of our clinical support team and work closely with other healthcare professionals to ensure the delivery of the best possible care. You'll be a vital part of our team, making a real difference in the lives of our patients.

Responsibilities

Room patients
Answer phones
Prepare charts ahead of visits and close care gaps
Monitor incoming patient messages
Perform point‑of‑care testing
Administer medications and immunizations
Prepare exam rooms
Maintain efficient patient flow
Assist with clinical procedures such as EKGs and wound care
Manage inbasket tasks, refill requests, and prior authorization preparation
Provide occasional support to the adjoining Internal Medicine department

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent
Successful completion of a hands‑on competency‑based medical assistant training program
1 year of relevant experience in a physician practice or healthcare setting (preferred)
AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification – required within 90 days of hire
One of the following certifications – required within 120 days of hire:
- AAMA Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)
- AMT Registered Medical Assistant (RMA)
- NHA Certified Medical Assistant (CCMA)
- NCCT Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA)
- NAHP Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA)
