About the Role
Mosaic Life Care is seeking a Certified/Registered Medical Assistant (MA) to work under the supervision of leadership. The MA provides a wide range of assistive services to promote patient flow, patient information gathering, and patient care in the clinic setting, including patient access duties such as check-in and appointment setting.
Responsibilities
- Interviews patients and documents responses in the medical record according to standard.
- Administers and documents prescribed medications (oral, intramuscular, intradermal, subcutaneous, inhaled, drops) and treatments in accordance with organizational standards.
- Observes, records, and reports patient’s response to medications and treatments to provider(s).
- Documents and communicates medication refills.
- Assists provider with examinations and procedures, including preparing sterile fields and properly maintaining equipment before and after procedures.
- Collects and prepares laboratory specimens, instructs patients and/or family members in sample collection, and completes point-of-care testing.
- Performs clinic procedures including but not limited to EKGs, Snellen Eye Testing, regular and pediatric E-chart, Bone Density Testing (DEXA), Incentive Spirometry, Ear Lavage, applying/changing dressings (including wound care), and staple removal.
- Provides educational materials to patients as instructed by providers.
- Communicates with patients regarding appointments, completion of insurance forms, medical releases, and other documentation.
- Monitors patient scheduling, responds to and refers incoming telephone inquiries, and maintains timely patient flow.
- Arranges for patient referral testing at other facilities or specialty care.
- Enters patient data into the computer system accurately and completely, including registration, medical record assignment, and visit creation.
- Documents all observations, treatments, procedures, medications, and telephone conversations in the medical record per standard.
- Cleans and maintains patient care areas, including examination rooms and equipment, to ensure a sanitary, safe, and organized facility.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma (Required).
- If hired after 06/01/2021, completion of a Medical Assistant training program is required.
- Six months of experience in a physician’s office or healthcare setting (Preferred).
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification (Required upon hire).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (Required upon hire).
- Must be able to travel between various system facilities and off-site locations as needed.

- Ability to collect thorough information regarding a patient’s condition and evaluate the effects of care.

- Follow policies and procedures; disseminate information and/or instructions to appropriate person(s).
- Prioritize work assignments and follow through to completion.

- Ability to visually assess patient condition; visual, hearing, tactile, and olfactory senses.
Exposure to Hazards
- Blood/body fluids, needles, cuts, back injuries, electrical output from personal computers, eye and neck strain, and other medical office-related hazards.
