Responsibilities

  • Prepares exam and treatment rooms.
  • Prepares patients for examination and treatment, including providing appropriate clothing for physical exams or minor surgeries.
  • Obtains pertinent patient history and enters it into the medical record, including chief complaint, medical and surgical history, allergies, medications, review of systems, and vital signs.
  • Serves as a scribe between patient and physician in treatment rooms, documenting all relevant information.
  • Processes and files lab/diagnostic test results, correspondence, and clinical notes in patients’ charts after review by the physician.
  • Ensures accurate and complete documentation on patient records and notifies providers and departments of diagnostic testing results.
  • Coordinates patient flow in the office and collaborates with receptionists to ensure timely and efficient patient visits.
  • Assists front office personnel by answering phones, scheduling appointments, and performing other tasks as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of six (6) months of related work experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical assisting, typically obtained through an Associate’s Degree in Medical Assistance, is preferred.
  • National Certification as a Medical Assistant is a plus.
