Medical Assistant - East Hartford

About the role

First Choice Health Centers is seeking a Medical Assistant to join their team in East Hartford, CT. This position involves delivering direct care services, patient engagement, and care coordination.

Responsibilities

• Act as a member of the care team, including preparing patients for appointments and collecting and recording clinical information.
• Respond to patient phone calls and document patient interactions.
• Manage patients according to approved protocols and consistent with appointment and scheduling guidelines.
• Document all patient interactions and other clinical activities accurately and timely in the electronic health record.
• Schedule tests, treatments, and follow-up visits on behalf of patients, assist patients with identifying suitable outside resources and other services.
• Monitor task list (telephone encounters) to respond in a timely manner, follow up on overdue orders, and monitor status of critical referrals.
• Adequately adhere to all patient safety standards and infection control guidelines.
• Aid the care team to ensure smooth office operations and provide excellent service through teamwork.

Requirements

• Experience with an electronic health record.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Experience and Training: Graduate of an Accredited Medical Assistant Program or completion of Certified Nursing Assistant Program; Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
• One or more years of MA/CNA experience.
• BLS Certification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current CPR certification.

Pay

The hourly range for this position is $17.50 - $22/hour, based on experience and certifications.

Schedule

Primarily a Monday through Friday schedule working 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. One late night shift until 6 pm, but employees leave on Friday at 3 pm.
