About the role

OnPoint Medical Group is a physician-led network of skilled Primary and Urgent care providers committed to expanding access to quality healthcare in the most effective and affordable manner possible. Our "Circle of Care" ensures the health and wellness of members and their families by providing a comprehensive menu of medical services from one unified physician group. As a Medical Assistant at OnPoint Family Medicine: DTC, you will assist providers in examination and treatment of patients, playing a key role in our coordinated care approach.

Responsibilities

  • Complete patient intake by welcoming patients, preparing them for healthcare visits, placing them in exam rooms, obtaining medical history, and verifying patient information.
  • Document a full and accurate set of vital signs.
  • Populate all sections of the electronic medical record (EMR) accurately and timely, including allergies, medications, vaccines, social history, and quality tabs.
  • Assist providers during examinations and treatments, performing point-of-care tests appropriate to skill level, certifications, and state regulations.
  • Maintain supplies in storage areas and exam rooms.
  • Disinfect and clean treatment rooms following patient examinations; ensure a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by adhering to standards, procedures, and legal regulations.
  • Conduct business in a service-oriented manner, demonstrating attentiveness, cooperation, sensitivity, and respect toward patients, visitors, and colleagues.
  • Perform pre-visit planning according to standard operating procedure guidelines.
  • Maintain logs and required checks (e.g., refrigerator temperatures, emergency medications, expired medications, oxygen).
  • Check and address voicemails multiple times during the working day.
  • Manage inbox messages (buckets) in the EMR for providers, provider staff, and self.
  • Serve as back-up for front office tasks, including check-in, check-out, appointment scheduling, and answering phones.
  • Maintain professional relationships with vendors supporting the practice.
  • Follow HIPAA guidelines for all internal and external systems.
  • Communicate appropriately with awareness of surroundings and audience.
  • Attend required trainings and meetings.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Graduate of an accredited healthcare program (e.g., Medical Assistant, CNA, LPN, EMT) or equivalent work experience.
  • Maintain certifications per state guidelines.
  • Nationally recognized Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) strongly preferred.
  • Strong computer skills; EMR experience preferred.
  • Some Medical Assistant experience required.
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) card.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of experience in Family or Pediatrics.
  • Experience with Athenahealth practice management system.

Working Conditions

  • Regularly required to stand; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • Occasionally required to walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds; occasionally lift and/or move more than 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Pay

$21 - $27 per hour. The estimate represents the typical salary range for candidates hired; factors such as specific skills, years of experience, and comparison to existing employees may influence the actual salary.
