Medical Assistant - Downtown Fresno Specialty Care - Per Diem
About the Role
Accountable for basic clerical and technical supportive services within a defined scope of practice under the direction of a licensed physician or surgeon. The multi-skilled employee partners with providers and clinic staff to provide ongoing support services to maximize efficiency while ensuring an optimal patient and family experience.
Responsibilities include welcoming and rooming patients and families in a timely manner, collecting patient information and vital signs specific to the practice setting (e.g., medical history, medication usage), and effectively utilizing Valley Children's Healthcare systems, software, and modules to perform job-related functions. Documents all pertinent information precisely and clearly. Functions as a patient care team member assisting licensed staff in the performance and provision of safe, service-oriented, and efficient patient care.
Responsibilities
- Welcome and room patients and families efficiently.
- Collect patient information and vital signs (e.g., medical history, medication usage).
- Utilize healthcare systems, software, and modules effectively.
- Document pertinent information clearly and precisely.
- Assist licensed staff in providing safe and efficient patient care.
Requirements
- High School Diploma (required).
- Medical Assistant or equivalent program (required).
- OR equivalent experience in a healthcare environment as a Medical Assistant or other patient care role (required).
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification from the American Heart Association within 30 days of hire or transfer into position (required).
- Medical Assistant certification (preferred).
- Minimum six (6) months of experience in a healthcare environment providing direct care (preferred).
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to work in a team environment and manage multiple priorities in a timely manner.
- Knowledge of medical terminology (preferred).
- Bilingual skills (preferred).
Pay
Compensation range: $24.15 - $35.00 per hour.
Schedule
Day shift, 8 hours per day.
