Medical Assistant

Contract Medical Assistant role in Rensselaer, NY supporting a healthcare facility. 3-month contract with possibility of extension or internal hire.

Schedule

• Monday – Thursday: 7:45 AM – 4:30 PM
• Friday: 7:45 AM – 4:00 PM

Pay

$20–$23/hour, based on experience, expertise, credentialing, and education.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate clinical competence in direct patient care and assist MDs with procedures.
• Perform clinical duties within scope of practice, complying with department standards, policies, and protocols.
• Proactively address each patient’s individual and family needs; communicate identified needs in a timely manner.
• Direct and/or escort patients to exam rooms promptly.
• Assist physician, mid-level healthcare professional, or nurse during exams and office diagnostic procedures/treatments.
• Perform authorized procedures (e.g., vital signs, vision screening, selected laboratory tests) as directed.
• Seek validation/guidance from physicians or nurses when necessary.
• Prepare e-prescriptions for processing to pharmacies when instructed by physician per policy.
• Inspect, clean/prepare, and process instruments/equipment according to manufacturers’ or facility guidelines.
• Process specimens for transport to laboratory, ensuring proper labeling and appropriate orders in EPIC.

Requirements

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Completed Medical Assistant education program.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required prior to start.
• 2+ years of clinic experience.
• Phlebotomy skills required.
• Ability to float to several nearby locations; reliable transportation required.
