Medical Assistant (CMA/RMA)
About the role
The Spine Hospital of Louisiana is seeking an experienced Certified or Registered Medical Assistant to join our ClearPath Surgical Clinic. As a Medical Assistant, you'll play an essential role in preparing patients for surgery by providing exceptional clinical and administrative support while delivering an outstanding patient experience from start to finish.
Responsibilities
- Welcome and prepare patients for their ClearPath Surgical Clinic appointments.
- Obtain vital signs, medical histories, medication information, and other pre-admission data.
- Perform EKGs and assist with preoperative testing and documentation.
- Cook up appointments, referrals, and specialty clearances.
- Communicate with surgeons' offices, anesthesia providers, hospital departments, and outside healthcare providers.
- Educate patients using standardized preoperative instructions and answer questions throughout the surgical preparation process.
- Maintain accurate electronic medical records while ensuring HIPAA compliance.
- Support a collaborative, patient-centered team dedicated to surgical excellence.
Requirements
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program required.
- Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of Medical Assistant experience in a physician's office, outpatient clinic, surgical clinic, hospital, pre-admission testing, or similar healthcare setting.
- Licenses/Certificates: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA).
