Medical Assistant (CMA / LPN / EMT)

About the role

Peachtree Immediate Care has an immediate opening for a Certified Medical Assistant at our Crawfordville, FL location. This is a full-time position with three 12-hour shifts per week, including a rotating weekend shift. The role requires willingness to float between the Tennessee St., Mahan, Crawfordville, and Buck Lake Clinics.

Responsibilities

• Communicate and interact effectively with a wide variety of personnel and patients.
• Assist the Physician, Physician Assistant (PA, PA-C), or Nurse Practitioner (NP, FNP) in urgent care and occupational medicine settings.
• Perform patient intake, accept and return patient calls, perform lab work, general x-rays, administer medication, and assist in minor surgery.
• Demonstrate high-level interpersonal and communication skills to greet visitors, patients, and staff professionally.
• Prepare and maintain exam and treatment rooms with necessary instruments.
• Prepare patients for examination and treatment, documenting patient complaints, vital signs, current medication, and allergies accurately.
• Initiate patient care before the provider’s exam according to standing orders.
• Perform lab tests, administer medications (PO, SQ, IM, intradermal, eye drops, ear drops, topical), and apply dressings as directed.
• Perform venipuncture per policy and follow proper procedures for occupational health services and radiographic imaging where applicable.
• Assist with minor surgeries, wound care, scheduling tests, treatments, and referrals.
• Review written discharge instructions with patients and ensure understanding.
• Answer telephone calls per department standards, relay information as directed by the provider, and document accordingly.
• Complete routine equipment checks, stock supplies, and notify staff of items needing to be ordered.
• Attend pertinent in-service and educational conferences, and quarterly staff meetings.
• Adhere to standards of safety and infection control in the delivery of patient care.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school for Medical Assistant; certification preferred.
• Licensed Practical Nurses, Emergency Medical Technicians, Basic Machine Operators, and Radiologic Technologists must have applicable current State licensure.
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
• Reliable transportation to commute to assigned regional offices.
• Ability to work independently, as part of a team, and with patients in a high-paced facility.
• Ability to escort or transport patients by wheelchair when appropriate.
• Ability to work all shifts including day, evening, and weekend hours as needed.
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Detail-oriented with excellent interpersonal communication skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in an outpatient/clinic setting preferred.
• Duties performed under the direct supervision of a medical provider and may vary by formal training and State guidelines.
