About the role
Peachtree Immediate Care has an immediate opening for a Certified Medical Assistant at our Thomasville Rd. location in Tallahassee, FL. This is a full-time position with three 12-hour shifts per week and a rotating weekend shift. The role requires willingness to float between the Appleyard, Lake Ella, North Monroe, and Thomasville Rd. Clinics.
Responsibilities
- Communicate and interact effectively with a wide variety of personnel and patients.
- Assist the Physician, Physician Assistant (PA, PA-C), or Nurse Practitioner (NP, FNP) in urgent care and occupational medicine settings.
- Perform patient intake, accept and return patient calls, and assist with lab work and general x-rays.
- Administer medication (PO, SQ, IM, intradermal, eye drops, ear drops, topical) as ordered by a licensed provider.
- Perform venipuncture per policy and apply dressings as instructed.
- Prepare and maintain exam and treatment rooms with necessary instruments.
- Prepare patients for examination and treatment, document patient complaints, vital signs, current medications, and allergies.
- Initiate patient care before provider exam according to standing orders.
- Assist with minor surgeries, wound care, and scheduling of tests and treatments.
- Ensure proper consents are obtained and signed.
- Follow procedures for Occupational Health services and radiographic image collection where applicable.
- Assist with patient discharge by reviewing written discharge instructions.
- Answer telephone calls per department standards and relay information as directed by the provider.
- Complete routine equipment checks, stock supplies, and notify staff of items needing to be ordered.
- Attend pertinent in-service and educational conferences and quarterly staff meetings.
- Adhere to standards of safety and infection control in the delivery of patient care.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school for Medical Assistant; certification preferred.
- Licensed Practical Nurses, Emergency Medical Technicians, Basic Machine Operators, and Radiologic Technologists must have applicable current State licensure.
- Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
- Reliable transportation to commute to assigned regional offices.
- Ability to work independently, as part of a team, and with patients in a high-paced facility.
- Ability to escort or transport patients by wheelchair when appropriate.
- Ability to work all shifts including day, evening, and weekend hours as needed.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Detail-oriented with excellent interpersonal communication skills.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 1–2 years of experience in an outpatient/clinic setting preferred.
- Duties performed under the direct supervision of a medical provider and may vary by formal training and State guidelines.
