About the role
The Medical Assistant Clinic at Franciscan Medical Group in Tacoma, Washington, is seeking a part-time (0.8 FTE) Clinic Medical Assistant. The position involves keeping the day running smoothly and efficiently for patients and clinical teams. Responsibilities include greeting and preparing patients for practitioner visits, obtaining and recording vital signs, performing basic lab and phlebotomy procedures, documenting medical visits, and scheduling appointments.
Responsibilities
- Takes the lead on proactively preparing patient charts, ensuring all information is obtained and up-to-date for those seen in the facility.
- Performs basic lab and phlebotomy procedures, draws blood, and administers approved medications.
- Documents medical visits and procedures in the electronic medical record.
- Reviews and validates medical documentation, lab results, and interprets test results.
- Schedules appointments, processes referrals, and coordinates patient flow.
- May perform front office clerical duties such as billing, collection, and registration.
- Communicates with patients regarding appointments, education, and insurance verification.
Requirements
- High School Graduate or GED
- Certificate from an accredited Medical Assistant program or equivalent military training
- One to three years of Medical Assistant work experience
- Medical Assistant Certification from WA
- Basic Life Support (BLS) - CPR
Preferred
- One to three years of work experience as a Medical Assistant

Pay and Schedule
The posted compensation range is $26.45 - $37.10 per hour. The actual pay may vary based on experience and qualifications. The schedule is Monday to Thursday, 8:00 AM - 5:30 PM, and Wednesday and Thursday, 8:00 AM - 3:30 PM.
