Role And Responsibilities
- Applies evidence-based guidelines from major regulatory and specialty groups.
- Prepares patients for primary care visits by performing pre-visit preparation.
- Collaborates with the primary care nurse and provider to conduct e-huddles using the Planned Care Dashboard.
- Supports virtual telehealth sessions using Zoom technology, including setting up virtual exam rooms and preparing patients.
- Administers administrative support tasks such as collecting paperwork, requesting records, and scheduling follow-up visits.
- Facilitates appropriate telehealth patient flow by supporting clinical teams.
- Prepares patients for visits, prioritizing work responsibilities to decrease waiting time.
- Collaborates with providers and staff to ensure smooth patient flow.
- Assists other team members as needed or requested.
- Schedules tests and referrals for specialty care in compliance with provider orders.
- Maintains a clean, orderly, and safe working environment.
- Stocks exam rooms and cleans areas at the end of each shift.
- Maintains infection control standards and adheres to safety policies.
- Ensures proper documentation of patient vital signs and performs CLIA-waived tests, EKGs, and hearing/vision tests.
- Maintains CPR certification annually.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a Medical Assistant course from an accredited/recognized school.
- AAMA or NHA certification as a Medical Assistant, or AMT registration.
- EKG use, appointment scheduling, word processing, and familiarity with medical testing procedures.
- Sound organizational skills and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Team-focused and demonstrates leadership qualities.
- Current American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer and AED certification (or equivalent).
