About the role
The Medical Assistant will assist the provider with facilitating patient visits and procedures, conducting routine laboratory tests, making referrals, and contributing to quality outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Prepare exam rooms and treatment areas for patient use, including cleaning and stocking supplies
- Room patients and manage an efficient flow of the provider's caseload
- Obtain necessary vital signs, EKGs, and/or specimen collections
- Document care using the EPIC EMR system
- Perform Point of Care Testing based on patient's chief complaint and available protocols
- Process referrals and medication refills
- Maintain positive relationships with patients, providers, and staff
Requirements
- Graduate/certificate of completion from a recognized medical assisting program OR a High School Diploma/GED plus one year of medical assistant experience in a physician practice within the past three years
- Medical Assistant certification required within six months of hire
