Medical Assistant - Cardiovascular

About the Role

Saint Luke’s Cardiovascular Consultants treats patients throughout the Kansas City area and surrounding communities with resources not available elsewhere in the Midwest. We are committed to furthering the field of cardiology through a team approach to comprehensive patient care, training more fellows than any other program in the region, and publishing more research studies than most cardiology departments in the country.

This position is responsible for assisting providers and the nursing team in the delivery of professional medical care at our Plaza location. The role may require floating to other clinic practices and participating in mentoring or precepting new employees as needed.

Responsibilities

• Rooming patients and documenting vitals
• Utilizing the EMR system
• Scanning and downloading Holters and EKGs
• Performing phlebotomy
• Performing duties as assigned based on respective clinic need
• Maintaining excellent customer service skills and professional demeanor at all times

Requirements

• Medical Assistant Certification required (CMA, NRCMA, RMA, CCMA)
• BLS Certification required
• Basic Life Support RQI (Resuscitation Quality Improvement)

No prior experience as a Medical Assistant or completion of an MA program is required. We provide training and support to help you succeed.

Medical Assistant Training Program

Saint Luke’s offers a 10-week paid Medical Assistant Training Cohort Program for those new to the field. The program includes:

• A comprehensive review of body systems, pharmacology, medical terminology, lab values, and BLS certification
• Introduction to Saint Luke’s culture with an emphasis on customer service and patient safety
• Week 1-5: In-class didactic content
• Week 5-8: Clinicals with instructor
• Week 9-10: Home clinic orientation with a Success Coach
