Job Summary

The Medical Assistant provides clinical support to the physician and mid-level providers and provides instructions to patients as directed by the providers. The Medical Assistant is also responsible for compliance with all OSHA/CLIA and HIPAA Regulations, and ensures completion of all duties vital to business operations.

Duties To Include

  • Prepares patient for exam and acquires vital signs, weight, general history, and current medication list when required.
  • Documents all clinical findings and patient response to interventions, i.e., history, medications, vital signs, weight, and testing results.
  • Collects and provides to the provider the completed Laboratory/test findings Intake Form, and physician referral information, Diagnostic Imaging, or Cardiopulmonary test results as they are available.
  • Provides instruction to patients under the direction of the provider.
  • Maintains adequate level of supplies in exam rooms and work station.
  • Cleans and disinfects exam rooms.
  • Reports malfunction of equipment to department supervisor.
  • Provides assistance to Clerical Coordinator/Registrar as needed.
  • Aids in the completion of referral process, outpatient testing, pre-certification and scheduling.
  • Timely and accurate collection/distribution of all patient information.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma/GEDEligible Medical Assistant Certification/Credential for the state where work is performed
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be acquired during orientation.
  • Education, Credentials, Licenses: Medical assistant certification/certification for the state where work is performed
  • Specialized Knowledge: Medical terminology, Computer fluency/literacy, Communication skills (verbal and written), Maintain patient confidentiality, Organization and prioritization skills
