Job Summary
The Medical Assistant provides clinical support to the physician and mid-level providers and provides instructions to patients as directed by the providers. The Medical Assistant is also responsible for compliance with all OSHA/CLIA and HIPAA Regulations, and ensures completion of all duties vital to business operations.
Duties To Include
- Prepares patient for exam and acquires vital signs, weight, general history, and current medication list when required.
- Documents all clinical findings and patient response to interventions, i.e., history, medications, vital signs, weight, and testing results.
- Collects and provides to the provider the completed Laboratory/test findings Intake Form, and physician referral information, Diagnostic Imaging, or Cardiopulmonary test results as they are available.
- Provides instruction to patients under the direction of the provider.
- Maintains adequate level of supplies in exam rooms and work station.
- Cleans and disinfects exam rooms.
- Reports malfunction of equipment to department supervisor.
- Provides assistance to Clerical Coordinator/Registrar as needed.
- Aids in the completion of referral process, outpatient testing, pre-certification and scheduling.
- Timely and accurate collection/distribution of all patient information.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
- H.S. Diploma/GEDEligible Medical Assistant Certification/Credential for the state where work is performed
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be acquired during orientation.
- Education, Credentials, Licenses: Medical assistant certification/certification for the state where work is performed
- Specialized Knowledge: Medical terminology, Computer fluency/literacy, Communication skills (verbal and written), Maintain patient confidentiality, Organization and prioritization skills
