Job Summary
The Medical Assistant provides clinical support to the physician and mid-level providers. The Medical Assistant provides instructions to patients as directed by the providers. The Medical Assistant is also responsible for compliance with all OSHA/CLIA and HIPAA Regulations and ensures completion of all duties vital to business operations.
Responsibilities
- Provides instructions to patients as directed by the providers.
- Ensures compliance with all OSHA/CLIA and HIPAA Regulations.
- Supports patient flow in a unit or department, including:
- Patient registration
- Patient scheduling
- Patient billing
- Pre-certification (collecting insurance information; receiving co-pays or bill payments)
- Medical records retrieval, release, or collection
- Data entry
- Resolves routine problems and coordinates patient flow.
- Initiates follow-up with appropriate staff as needed.
- Demonstrates respect, dignity, kindness, and empathy in each encounter with all patients, families, visitors, and other employees.
Requirements
- H.S. Diploma/GED
- No formal experience beyond education required. Six months to one-year experience preferred.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited medical assisting school.
Skills
- Comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
