Medical Assistant Cardiology

This position is based at the Layton Parkway Cardiology clinic, part of Intermountain Health McKay-Dee Hospital in Ogden, Utah.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care under the direction of the clinician, assisting the provider in gathering information relevant to the patient’s visit and condition.
• Communicate clearly with patients through various modalities, including telephone and in-person interactions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure comprehensive patient care, demonstrating attention to detail and follow-through.

Requirements

This position requires one of the following:

• Proof of completion of a Medical Assistant program, or
• At least one year of Medical Assistant work experience, or
• A current active and in good standing RN/LPN license to practice nursing in the state of Utah.

• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification for healthcare providers (must be obtained prior to start date).
• Demonstrated basic computer skills, including word processing and data entry.
• Professional manner with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with patients and fellow caregivers to deliver high levels of customer/patient satisfaction.
• Commitment to protecting privacy, confidentiality, and Protected Health Information (PHI) of patients, members, and caregivers.

Utah Only: If certified with less than one year of MA experience, caregivers may attend a yearlong MA residency program.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in an outpatient clinic or other healthcare setting.
• Computer literacy in using electronic medical records (EMR) systems and other relevant software.
• Current national MA certification from one of the following: Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) of AMT, National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) of the AAMA.

Physical Requirements

• Ongoing need to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, and identify equipment and supplies.
• Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors, requiring clear verbal communication, active listening, and quick response, especially during emergencies.
• Manual dexterity for precise manipulation of complex and delicate equipment, including frequent computer use and typing for documentation, accessing information, and medication preparation.
• Ability to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients, bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment, including heavy items.
• Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and distributing supplies and equipment, including pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment.
• Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms with equipment and power cords on the floor.
• May be expected to stand in a stationary position for extended periods.
• For roles requiring driving: Ability to drive a vehicle, including sitting, seeing, and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.

Schedule

• 40 hours per week, full-time.
• Clinic hours are Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–5:00 PM. Schedule may vary based on provider schedules and clinic needs.

Pay

The hourly range for this position is $20.07 – $28.59. Actual hourly rate is dependent upon experience.
