Medical Assistant - Call Center

About the role
This full-time Medical Assistant position offers a convenient day shift schedule and full benefits. The role involves performing a wide variety of patient care duties, including assisting in examinations and treatments under physician direction, measuring vital signs, conducting venipuncture, and preparing treatment rooms.
Responsibilities
- Participate in decision-making and process improvement.
- Ensure patient rooms, nursing stations, and storage rooms are stocked, clean, and manage product expiration dates; maintain equipment cleanliness according to infection prevention standards.
- Distribute referrals to physicians and insurance companies, documenting requests and responses in patient charts.
- Pre-authorize prescriptions and clinical tests (CT, MRI, Ultrasound, etc.) as necessary.
- Phone or fax patient prescriptions as required.
- Schedule diagnostic imaging studies, dietician appointments, cardiology testing, and radiology testing for patients, completing all appropriate paperwork.
- Accurately perform clinical duties, including triaging patients, checking vitals, administering injections and venipunctures, and prepping patients for physician exams.
- Assist in covering the front desk as required.
- Document patient information in the Electronic Medical Record in accordance with IPM guidelines.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program required.
- Current BLS/CPR certification required.
- Medical Assistant Certificate of Completion and/or one year of experience as a Medical Assistant.
- Familiarity with medical terminology.
- Experience with patient check-in and check-out processes (according to clinic protocol).
- Knowledge of general medical office procedures.
- Understanding of end-of-day cash balancing and charge reconciliation process (according to clinic protocol).
