The Medical Assistant position at OnPoint Internal Medicine at Broomfield is available for an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join a growing network of healthcare providers. Responsibilities
- Welcomes patients and prepares them for healthcare visits by placing them in exam rooms and obtaining necessary medical history information.
- Documents vital signs and populates all sections of the electronic medical record (EMR) accurately and promptly, including allergies, medications, vaccines, social history, and quality tabs.
- Aids providers during examinations and treatments, performing point-of-care tests as appropriate based on skill level, certifications, and state regulations.
- Maintains supplies in storage areas and exam rooms, disinfects and cleans treatment rooms after patient examinations, and ensures a safe, secure, and healthy work environment.
- Communicates effectively with patients, visitors, and colleagues, demonstrating attentiveness, cooperation, sensitivity, and respect.
- Prepares for appointments, checks and addresses voicemail messages, and manages inbox messages in the EMR for providers, staff, and self.
- Assists with front office tasks such as check-in, check-out, appointment scheduling, and answering phones as needed.
- Maintains professional relationships with vendors supporting the practice and adheres to HIPAA guidelines.
- Attends required trainings and meetings.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Graduate of an accredited healthcare program (Medical Assistant, CNA, LPN, EMT, or equivalent work experience).
- Must maintain certifications per state guidelines.
- Nationally recognized as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) preferred.
- Strong computer skills, including EMR experience.
- 1-3 years of experience in Family or Pediatrics.
- Knowledge of Athenahealth practice management system.
