At Saint Alphonsus Health System, we seek individuals who embody our mission and values. The Baker City Family Medicine Clinic is seeking a part-time Medical Assistant to join their team.
Position Summary & Highlights
This Medical Assistant (MA) position will primarily work in the Lab at the Baker City Outpatient clinic. You will work closely with other Medical Assistants, RNs, and LPNs under the supervision of the physician and/or Advanced Practice Provider. Clinical oversight is provided by the RN Supervisor, Lead Nurse, and/or SAMG Nursing Administration. You will receive training and orientation to support efficient clinic flow and communicate effectively with team members. The clinic handles a variety of services from preventive screenings to chronic disease management.
What You Will Do
- Perform phlebotomy, urinalysis, Point of Care testing, and centrifuge
- Run quality controls on lab equipment and perform routine preventative maintenance
- Process urine drug screens for direct mailing to outside vendor
- Review and complete orders in EHR system
- Train other MAs on point of care tests
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
- Order and stock lab supplies and remove outdated supplies
- Occasionally cover for MAs in the family medicine clinic when needed, rooming patients, taking vitals, and patient intakes
- Obtain a Certified Drug Tester certification
Minimum Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent required
- MA credentialing from one of the following organizations within 15 months of hire or transfer date: American Association of Medical Assistants (CMA), American Medical Technologists (RMA), National Healthcare Association (CCMA), National Center for Competency Testing (NCMA), National Association of Health Professionals (NRCMA), American Medical Certification Association (CMAC), National Phlebotomy Certification Examination (NPCE MA)
- Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers certification from AHA, ARC, or the Military Training Network at hire
Work Schedule
This position works Monday - Thursday, 40 hours every other week. This schedule consists of working one full week and then having the next week off, resulting in part-time hours in the pay period. Hours are typically between 7:30am - 4:30pm.
