Medical Assistant Back Office (Women's Health)
About the Role
The Medical Assistant Back Office (Women's Health) performs medical, technical, and administrative support services to contribute to the efficient day-to-day operations, providing a positive patient experience.
This position will be primarily assigned to a work location but may also float as needed to various UCR Health clinic locations. This position may be required to work different shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Responsibilities
- Escort patients to exam rooms, take and record vital signs and medical histories.
- Prepare patients for examination and assist in procedures.
- Prepare and administer medications and vaccines.
- Perform laboratory and specimen collection/processing.
- Address quality care gaps and other duties as directed by the provider.
- Provide administrative support to providers and interact with patients by scheduling appointments in tandem with provider availability.
- Interact with patients in person and on the phone, including assignment to the Contact Center to address patient calls.
- Greet patients at check-in, collect patient information, and update/maintain electronic records.
- Handle visit payments and ensure exam rooms have needed inventory for operation.
- Perform clinic administrative tasks and secure authorizations for medications.
Requirements
- Medical Assistant Diploma.
- Written evidence of validation for training and competence in medication administration by injecting and skin testing (required to administer injections or provide venipuncture).
- Minimum of 2 years of Medical Assistant experience.
- Prior EMR experience, preferably with EPIC.
- Experience working in an environment performing tasks related to front and back office duties (required).
- Experience working in an ambulatory multi-specialty or primary care office (preferred).

- Strong oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate with patients of varying ages and multicultural backgrounds.
- Demonstrated customer/patient service skills appropriate to the job.
- Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload.
- Possess the skill, knowledge, and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a constantly changing environment.
- Understanding of medical terminology.
- Familiarity with universal precautions, handling of bio-hazardous waste, specimen identification, and transport.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) (preferred).
Pay
The full salary range for the Medical Assistant / Patient Care Coordinator is $26.71 - $33.18 per hour. Salary offers are based on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs.
