About the role
Provides a variety of technical, clerical, receptionist, and patient care services under the supervision of Registered Nurses or Health Care Providers.
Responsibilities
- Contact and schedule patients
- Perform patient intakes
- Therapeutic interventions as ordered by Health Care Provider
- Schedule follow-up visits and arrange referrals to outside facilities
- Helps patients by providing information, services, and assistance
- Verifies patient information by interviewing patients, recording medical histories, and confirming purposes of visits
- Prepares patients for examinations by performing exam room cleaning and preliminary patient intake measures such as taking blood pressure, weight, and temperature; and reporting patient history summaries and documenting in Electronic Health Records
- Safeguards patient information and maintains confidentiality
- Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures and complying with federal, state, and local legal regulations
- Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipt
- Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs
- Participates in pre-visit planning for scheduled patients and documents information/patient care on the patient's ambulatory care record and/or electronic health record
- Schedules procedures and/or coordinates lab and diagnostic tests and referrals for services
- Collects and prepares laboratory specimens
- Performs basic CLIA waved laboratory tests
- Gives patients injections or medications as directed by Health Care Provider and as permitted by state law
- Verifies completion of referral forms with times and appointments
- Other duties as assigned by Supervisor and requested by Health Care Provider
Qualifications
- Previous experience in ambulatory clinical settings
- At least 1 year of experience in medical offices
- Experience with electronic medical records
- Washington State License as a Medical Assistant
- All immunizations up to date
- Able to work with pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients
- Completed a pre-employment criminal background check and obtained access to IHS EHR
- Valid Washington State Driver's License with the ability to obtain a Yakama Nation Driving permit
- Passed a pre-employment drug test
