Medical Assistant

About the role

The role involves performing basic nursing skills and serving under the direction and supervision of the practice physician and/or registered nursing staff.

Responsibilities

• Greets and escorts patients to exam rooms;
• Prepares for physician visits by obtaining initial information and vital signs;
• Prepares exam rooms for patients with attention to cleanliness and availability of supplies;
• Auxiliary in and/or performs exams, tests, and procedures;
• Schedules appointments and sets up referral contacts as needed;
• Auxiliary during patient examinations and procedures;
• Edits patients on follow-up expectations;
• Maintains quality control testing logs as required;
• Ensures all medical equipment is in proper working condition;
• Auxiliary in patients' completion of medical documentation;
• Auxiliary in office administrative tasks such as answering phones, taking messages, performing office-related tasks (copying, printing, data entry, etc.), and assisting with depositing of cash and other closing duties.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent;
• Graduate of a Medical Assistant Program OR one (1) year of experience in a clinical setting;
• Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.

Qualifications

• Completion of healthcare education course work;
• One (1) year of healthcare experience.

Skills

• Ability to use and care of all equipment including printers, embossers, and computers;
• Ability to effectively communicate with staff and patients;
• Ability to adapt to changing environments;
• Ability to organize and prioritize work.
