Medical Assistant

About the role

The role involves performing basic nursing skills and serving under the direction and supervision of the practice physician and/or registered nursing staff.

Responsibilities

• Greets and escorts patients to exam rooms;
• Prepares for physician visits by obtaining initial information and vital signs;
• Prepares exam rooms for patients with attention to cleanliness and availability of supplies;
• Auxiliaries with and/or performs exams, tests, and procedures;
• Schedules appointments and sets up referral contacts as needed;
• Auxiliaries with provider during patient examinations and procedures;
• Edicates patients on follow-up expectations;
• Maintains quality control testing logs as required;
• Ensures all medical equipment is in proper working condition;
• Auxiliaries with office administrative tasks to include but not limited to answering phones, taking messages, performing office related tasks (copying, printing, data entry, etc.), and assisting with depositing of cash and other closing duties.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent;
• Graduate of a Medical Assistant Program OR one (1) year of experience in a clinical setting;
• Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.

Qualifications

• Completion of healthcare education course work;
• One (1) year of healthcare experience.

• Ability to use and care of all equipment including printers, embossers, and computers;
• Ability to effectively communicate with staff and patients;
• Ability to adapt to changing environments;
• Ability to organize and prioritize work.
