Responsibilities
- Assist OBGYN physicians and other healthcare providers in providing comprehensive care to patients.
- Escort patients to exam rooms, obtain vital signs, and assist with medical history documentation.
- Prepare patients for examinations and procedures, including pelvic exams, pap smears, and ultrasounds.
- Provide patient education on women's health topics, including contraception, prenatal care, and menopause management.
- Perform basic laboratory tests, such as urinalysis and pregnancy tests, and accurately record results in patient charts.
- Schedule patient appointments and manage the clinic's appointment calendar efficiently.
- Maintain electronic medical records (EMR) and ensure accurate documentation of patient information, including medical history, medications, and allergies.
- Handle patient inquiries, phone calls, and messages promptly and professionally.
- Absorb and handle insurance verification, billing, and coding processes as needed.
- Assist healthcare providers during examinations, procedures, and surgeries as required.
- Sterilize and prepare medical instruments and equipment for procedures and ensure compliance with infection control protocols.
- Stock exam rooms with necessary supplies and ensure equipment is in proper working order.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of exam rooms and clinical areas.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare team members to ensure coordinated patient care.
- Participate in team meetings, trainings, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care delivery and clinic operations.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of a medical assistant training program preferred.
- Certification or registration as a Medical Assistant (CMA/RMA) is strongly preferred.
- Prior experience working in a women's health or OBGYN setting is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in medical terminology, EMR systems, and basic clinical procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients, healthcare providers, and colleagues.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinical environment.
- Commitment to providing compassionate care and maintaining patient confidentiality.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and willingness to contribute to a collaborative team environment.
