Responsibilities
- Provides clinical support, assists with administrative tasks, and provides general support under direct supervision of a licensed practitioner or designee in accordance with UVA Health policies and procedures and competency to promote patient health and wellness.

Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED Required.
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year experience in a clinic setting preferred.
- Licensure: Current Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), RMA (Registered Medical Assistant) credentials or completion of an approved medical assistant program required. Must obtain certification within 6 months of date of hire through a recognized national professional association.
- AHA Healthcare Provider BLS required.

Competencies
- Patient Care: Responsible for practicing safely within the defined standards of practice. Records and relays patient information, symptoms, and concerns to the patient’s medical provider or registered nurse for further triage assessment and to determine a plan of care. Completes standardized rooming and performs clinical intake, health data collection, and documentation. Performs tasks according to scope of practice, documented competencies, and as directed by a licensed practitioner or nurse. Implements age-appropriate interventions based on individual patient needs as directed by the patient’s medical provider. Reinforces patient/family teaching plan based on identified health education needs and the condition and age of the patient through approved educational materials or written instructions.
- Teamwork: Willing to share responsibilities, support their teammates, and work together to achieve common goals. Organizes and prioritizes daily work assignments to support patient needs, the interdisciplinary team, and operational efficiency. Demonstrates teamwork in the delivery of patient care. Recognizes the importance of time sensitive issues.
- Technical Competence: Uses knowledge and skills acquired through training and competency testing. Provides clinical support under the supervision of a licensed practitioner. Documents and capture charges for clinical support services rendered within the patient visit. Performs administrative support responsibilities as directed by a Clinic Leader.
Physical Demands
- Physical Demand Code: Medium to Heavy Physical Demand: The job requires constant standing, frequently walking, and bending/stooping. Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills. Attention to detail and ability to write legibly. Ability to lift/push/pull 100 lbs. For any weight over 35 lbs., use Safe Handling Equipment.

Pay
The base compensation range for this role is $17.68 - $27.28 hourly. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education. Please note that the pay range does not include any applicable incentive compensation programs such as shift differentials, clinical ladders, and other incentives that may be available for those in eligible positions.
