The Certified Medical Assistant functions as an integral member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team, providing direct patient care and supporting medical and/or nursing staff in a Tidelands Health medical practice.

Responsibilities

• Accompany patients to exam rooms and prepare them for exams
• Perform and document vital signs
• Assist with procedures
• Prepare and administer medications with physician’s authorization
• Perform EKGs
• Use CPR skills when required
• Draw blood
• Provide patient education regarding office policies, medication, disease management, home treatments, and special diets
• Stock exam rooms, clean rooms, clean instruments, and dispose of biohazard waste according to OSHA standards
• Perform accurate, legal, and ethical documentation at all times
• Adhere to all HIPAA guidelines and regulations

Education Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent

Preferred Experience Qualifications

• At least 1 year of related customer-facing experience
• Required healthcare experience

Preferred Skills and Abilities

• Computer knowledge
• High level of interpersonal skills required to interact with patients, patients’ families/visitors, and clinical staff, including all levels of providers
• Ability to perform with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision
• Phlebotomy skills and experience

Licenses and Certifications

• Certified Clinical Medical Assistant – National Healthcareer Association Required
• Certified Medical Assistant – American Association of Medical Assistants Required
• Medical Assistant – American Medical Technologist Required
• National Certified Medical Assistant – National Center for Competency Testing Required
• Basic Life Support Certified – American Heart Association Required
