Responsibilities
- Accompanying patients to exam rooms
- Preparing patients for exams
- Performing and documenting vital signs
- Aiding with procedures
- Prepping and administering medications with physician’s authorization
- Performing EKGs
- Using CPR skills when required
- Drawing blood
- Providing patient education with regards to office policies, medication, and management of disease, home treatments, and special diets
- Stocking exam rooms, cleaning rooms, cleaning instruments, disposing of biohazard waste according to OSHA standards, and performing accurate, legal, and ethical documentation at all times
- Adhering to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations
Requirements
- A High School Diploma or equivalent
- Two (2) years of related customer facing experience, preferably in healthcare
- Computer knowledge
- High level of interpersonal skills to interact with patients, patients’ families/visitors and clinical staff, including all levels of providers
- Ability to perform with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision
- Phlebotomy skills and experience, preferred
- Certified Clinical Medical Assistant - National Healthcareer Association
- Medical Assistant - American Medical Technologist
- National Certified Medical Assistant - National Center for Competency Testing
- Certified Medical Assistant - American Association of Medical Assistants
- Basic Life Support Certified - American Heart Association within 30 days of hire. Recertification every two years
