The HealthCare Connection (THCC), founded in 1967, was Ohio’s first Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). Our mission is to provide quality and accessible primary healthcare services through community responsive approaches that address financial, geographic, and other barriers to care for residents of northern Hamilton County and surrounding areas. THCC is a Level 3 Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH), the highest level of recognition attainable for quality care. We operate two primary care locations and six school-based health centers, serving over 20,000 patients with services in Primary Care, Infectious Disease, Substance Use, Integrated Behavioral Health, Dental Services, Women’s Health, and Pharmacy.
About the role
We are seeking a Medical Assistant to join our mission-driven team. In this role, you will support providers and nurses in delivering high-quality care to children and adolescents. This position offers a consistent work schedule with no weekends, no evenings, and early Fridays, allowing for work–life balance. You will have the unique opportunity to impact student health and well-being while working with a compassionate and professional team.
Responsibilities
- Assist providers with direct patient care, including interviewing patients and documenting vitals and medical concerns.
- Conduct requested screenings and tests.
- Draw blood and administer shots to patients.
- Respond to telephone inquiries.
- Maintain equipment and supplies in exam rooms and office.
- Complete encounter forms and code as necessary.
- Conduct referrals for patients.
- Perform other duties necessary to provide excellent patient care and support providers.
Requirements
- Graduate of a certified Medical Assistant program.
- Active CPR certification.
- Preferred: at least one year of experience in a community health nursing setting or private physician practice.
- Preferred: experience working with electronic health records or proven computer skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to handle confidential and sensitive information.
- Ability to relate to persons from diverse educational, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds.

Medical Assistant Levels
This role is part of our Medical Assistant tier system, which includes: Medical Assistant, Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), and Senior Medical Assistant levels. Placement is based on experience, certification, and qualifications.
