General Description

Syracuse Orthopedic Specialists is seeking a compassionate and skilled Medical Assistant to join their dedicated team. The role supports physicians and ensures high-quality care for patients in a dynamic, collaborative environment.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Greeting patients promptly and professionally
• Assisting with the registration process, including collecting required information, medical history, documents, and electronic signatures
• Preparing patients for exams by performing preliminary tests, as needed
• Reporting relevant information to the provider
• Assisting providers with patient care as requested
• Performing scribe duties, as needed
• Reviewing treatment procedures with patients
• Assisting in ordering tests and retrieving results
• Reviewing discharge instructions
• Bracing and brace measurements under the supervision of a licensed professional
• Collecting patient payments and scheduling follow-up appointments, if required
• Balancing and closing a journal each day, when applicable
• Maintaining confidentiality and complying with HIPAA standards
• Performing other responsibilities as needed

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent is required
• A Medical Assistance Certification or a degree in the sciences is preferred
• One to three years of experience in a medical setting is preferred
• Excellent communication and customer service skills are essential
• Strong data entry skills are required
• CPR/BLS certification is preferred
