Essential Functions
- Provide customer service within established deadlines, consistent with organizational values, standards, and policies.
- Completes and revises documents by entering/typing data from source materials, recordings, and edited data.
- Maintains historical records by filing documents.
- Complete documentation in a timely fashion.
- Manage incoming and outgoing patient and provider phone calls.
- Facilitate referrals and schedule appointments with psychiatric provider.
- Manage prior and continuing insurance authorization requests and program waitlists in coordination with the Access Team.
- Facilitate continuity of care by obtaining collateral information from internal and external providers in accordance with agency and HIPAA Privacy standards.
- Manage pharmacy relationships.
- Assist the psychiatric services clinic by packing, labeling, and medication dispensing to clients when needed.
- Facilitate the discharge process for psychiatric providers.
- Facilitate Treatment Plan reminders and discontinuations for psychiatric providers.
- Attend and actively participate in clinic staff meetings and in-services.
- Facilitate basic laboratory tests.
- Perform and document patient vital signs.
- Follows all HIPAA Privacy regulations to protect the confidentiality of all client information and release of information from area(s) of responsibility.
Qualifications
- Successful completion of a medical assistant program from an accredited vocational institution or community college and/or certification with the AAMA (American Association of Medical Assistants).
- Must maintain required licensing and certification throughout the duration of employment with Sweetser in this role. Registered through the AAMA, AMT (American Medical Technologist) or another nationally recognized organization preferred.
- 1-2 years of experience as a medical assistant preferred.
- Experience with HER
- Must maintain a valid state driver's license.
Knowledge and Skills
- Minimum typing speed of 55 wpm.
- Knowledge of office procedures.
- Must have high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations. Position continually requires demonstrated poise, tact and diplomacy.
- Must be able to interact and communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization.
- Must have knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, database and presentation software. (MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
- Work requires continual attention to detail in composing, typing and proofing materials, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands.
