Medical Assistant

About the role

Spero Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to join our team in Greenwood. This position supports the mission of “Saving Lives, Instilling Hope and Restoring Relationships” in an integrated care setting where patients receive counseling, case management, and medically assisted treatment. Spero Health believes better outcomes are achieved by treating the whole person through integrated care.

Responsibilities

• Schedule patient appointments
• Answer incoming calls and check voice messages regularly
• Check patients in/out and monitor patient flow
• Perform urine drug screens, take vitals, and assist with patient evaluations
• Call in patient medication as directed by the Physician
• Input accurate patient information into the electronic health record
• Send prior-authorizations to insurance companies
• Perform daily financial summary and balance of payments received
• Handle cash collection and verification of benefits
• Review the Prescription Monitoring Database
• Provide education and resource information regarding medication

Requirements

• High School Diploma (required)
• Graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assisting (preferred)
• 1-3 years of experience as a Medical Assistant or similar role
• Phlebotomy and lab experience (preferred)
• Experience with injections (preferred)
• Must be able to obtain and maintain CPR certification
