Responsibilities

  • Escort patients to examination rooms and obtain vital signs
  • Perform patient intake and document chief complaints, health history updates, medications, allergies, and reasons for visits
  • Assist healthcare providers with routine gynecological examinations and prenatal visits
  • Prepare patients for pelvic exams, Pap smears, colposcopies, biopsies, IUD insertions/removals, and other office procedures
  • Collect laboratory specimens following clinic protocols
  • Prepare exam rooms, equipment, and supplies for patient visits and procedures
  • Clean, sterilize, and maintain medical instruments and equipment
  • Assist with patient monitoring during and after procedures
  • Schedule appointments, diagnostic testing, referrals, and follow-up visits
  • Verify insurance information and obtain necessary authorizations
  • Maintain Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and manage incoming calls
  • Knowledge of prenatal and women's health terminology and procedures
  • Obtain accurate patient histories and clinical information
  • Maintain professionalism and compassion with patients and families
  • Adhere to infection prevention and safety practices

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a certified Medical Assistant program preferred
  • At least 1 year of experience in the medical field
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or obtained within designated timeframe
  • Minimum one (1) year experience in an outpatient clinic preferred
  • Women's health, OB/GYN, or prenatal care experience strongly preferred
  • Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems preferred
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills
  • Proficiency with electronic medical record systems and basic computer applications
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to assist patients with mobility as needed
  • Manual dexterity sufficient for clinical procedures and computer work

Skills

  • Knowledge of medical procedures, laboratory specimen collection, and sterilization techniques
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently
