About the role
The Medical Assistant performs patient care and administrative and clerical related tasks and procedures based on training, education, and competency evaluations, and as delegated by and under the direction/supervision of the Physician, Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant (NP/PA), Registered Nurse (RN), or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
Responsibilities
- Assist with patient care including but not limited to: taking vital signs, assisting with examinations, collecting specimens, and preparing patients for examination.
- Administer medications as directed by a physician or other authorized personnel.
- Perform routine administrative duties such as scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records, and handling correspondence.
- Provide patient education and counseling regarding health maintenance, disease prevention, and treatment options.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare policies and procedures.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent Required
- Certification must be received within (9) nine months of employment in one of the following certification programs: CCMA- Certified Clinical Medical Assistant orCMA- Certified Medical Assistant orRMA- Registered Medical Assistant orEMT- Emergency Medical Technician
- BLS is required within 90 days of hire.
- One year of clinical/administrative experience Required
- Phlebotomy experience preferred
