Pay

$20.28 - $25.34 per hour, eligible for a location-based pay differential in accordance with organizational policy. Compensation is based on relevant experience and education, with individual discussions occurring during the hiring process and job reviews.

About the Role

This position requires the medical assistant to provide support to physicians and other clinical staff by performing routine clinical and clerical work.

Responsibilities

  • Place patients in examination rooms and document medications, vitals, and the main reason for the visit using the electronic medical record.
  • Perform screening and measuring procedures, including height, weight, blood pressure, pulse, and temperature.
  • Assist with setting up and preparing patients and equipment for exams and special procedures.
  • Collect blood or other laboratory specimens as requested by the physician.
  • Perform routine laboratory tests.
  • Enter proposed orders into the Electronic Medical Record for licensed independent provider review and approval.
  • Obtain previous test results from outside labs, radiology, physicians’ offices, etc.
  • Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets, and physicians’ instructions to patients clearly and effectively.
  • Clean and sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies according to regulations.
  • Maintain an adequate supply of medical inventory in each exam room.
  • Ensure the cleanliness of each exam room, preparing rooms after each patient and for specific procedures.
  • Order supplies as needed.
  • Ensure HIPAA and OSHA guidelines are followed at all times.
  • Perform administrative duties such as answering phones and scheduling appointments.
  • Create and update telephone encounters when reporting and responding to patients’ medical concerns and requests; forward to appropriate staff and medical providers.
  • Adhere to patient flow protocol (Reception, Registration, Triage, Labs, Escort to Provider).
  • Adhere to Visit Completion Protocol (Receive encounter and referral forms, schedule next appointments, schedule outside referrals, update visit log).
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Graduate of a Medical Assistant program.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Exceptional customer service and telephone etiquette.
  • Ability to maintain effective and organized systems to ensure timely patient flow.
  • Computer and/or EMR experience.

  • Regularly communicate with patients, staff, and medical providers, exchanging accurate information.
  • Constantly move about the office to assist patients, staff, and medical providers.
