About the role

As a Medical Assistant at Sarah Cannon Research Institute (SCRI), a subsidiary of McKesson, you will perform medical assistant related procedures for patients enrolled in clinical trials. Our mission-driven team is dedicated to advancing oncology treatments and improving outcomes for cancer patients globally.

Responsibilities

  • Access, flush, and de-access ports
  • Perform peripheral and port lab draws
  • Prepare patients for examination and assist physicians with procedures as needed
  • Prepare and stock exam rooms
  • Obtain vital signs and EKGs from pharmacokinetics (PK) patients
  • Perform buccal swabs on pharmacokinetics (PK) patients as needed
  • Ensure proper maintenance and handling of EKG machines (clinic and sponsor EKGs)
  • Verify the correct study lab kit is prepped for PK patients with long days and new starts every morning prior to patient arrival
  • Respond to queries from study sponsors or contract labs regarding patient/sample data
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and workspace in all areas
  • Interface with P/SL and laboratory personnel regarding labs for research patients
  • Coordinate with Clinic Research Nurses to ensure research patients have correct lab kits prior to visits
  • Order medical supplies as needed
  • Obtain radiology authorizations
  • Respond to emails daily
  • Utilize electronic medical record source for documentation
  • Assist other research personnel in the clinic when requested

Requirements

  • Knowledge of OSHA requirements for safe handling of blood and body fluids
  • Skill in venipuncture and blood processing
  • Skill in computer applications
  • Skill in gathering and reporting information
  • Medical Assistant training preferred
  • Medical clinic, clinical laboratory, or phlebotomy (or equivalent) experience
  • Current BLS certification

Pay

Compensation range: $20/hr - $27/hr
