Medical Assistant
Job Summary
The Medical Assistant provides assistance to the Physician and Physician's Assistant with daily administrative and clinical duties.
Key Accountabilities
- Increase patient satisfaction
- Maintain order, cleanliness, and inventory in the exam room
- Clean and autoclave instruments
- Provide and scan proper paperwork into the chart
- Obtain and record vitals per Physician's request
- Prepare injections for the Physician as per protocols
- Pull up x-rays, MRI's, CT's, and various studies, including reports associated, pertaining to the patient's exam
- Assist patient with clothing when necessary
- Dispose of bio hazardous waste and sharps according to OSHA regulation, and replace sharps containers when existing containers are full
- Answer telephones in patient treatment areas
- Request, obtain and upload reports from various facilities for Physicians to have available for review
- Empties and restocks laundry
- Scans appointment tracking to identify when patients are ready to be seen by the Physician and directs Physician in patient appointment order
- Reviews Physician schedules for chart preparation including ensuring operative reports, dictations, and studies are present in the chart
- Completes pre-certifications for MRI's, injectable, and other Physician orders as necessary
- Sends Visco Injection authorization request to supplement pre-certification representative
- Covers other areas in the office as directed by their manager
- Covers Provider jellybeans and voicemail as needed/requested
- Knowledge of fax logs
- Attends required meetings and participates on committees as requested
- Reads and responds to email communications within appropriate time frame
- Exemplifies the desired culture and philosophies of the organization
- Identifies weekly schedule, including schedule changes, published by manager
- Handles specimens (including urine, blood and drainage from incisions, and aspirated fluids, etc) and label accordingly. Follow order instructions of provider to ensure specimen is sent to appropriate lab for analysis
Qualifications
- HS Diploma or GED minimum education requirement
- Active National Medical Assistant Certification preferred, not required
- Minimum of one year of experience in medical office preferred
- Medical office procedures and medical terminology knowledge
- Computer skills including MS Office Suite
Pay Range
$16.00/hr - $24.00/hr

Coverage
Travel will be required to offices within the region for coverage purposes.
