About the role

This full-time Medical Assistant position supports the walk-in clinic in our Center City Philadelphia office.

Schedule

Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 4:30 PM.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients in the waiting room and escort them to the exam room.
  • Direct patients throughout their experience, including to orthotics, rehab, surgery scheduling, x-ray, and/or front desk.
  • Maintain order, cleanliness, and inventory in the exam room; prepare exam rooms for patients.
  • Clean and autoclave instruments.
  • Provide and scan proper paperwork into the chart for Physician’s review.
  • Obtain and record vitals per Physician’s request.
  • Prepare injections for the Physician as per protocols.
  • Pull up x-rays, MRIs, CTs, and various studies, including associated reports, pertaining to the patient’s exam.
  • Assist patients with clothing when necessary.
  • Dispose of biohazardous waste and sharps according to OSHA regulations; replace sharps containers when full.
  • Answer telephones in patient treatment areas.
  • Request, obtain, and upload reports from various facilities for Physicians to review.
  • Empty and restock laundry.
  • Scan appointment tracking to identify when patients are ready to be seen by the Physician and direct Physician in patient appointment order.
  • Review Physician schedules for chart preparation, ensuring operative reports, dictations, and studies are present in the chart.
  • Complete pre-certifications for MRIs, injectables, and other Physician orders as necessary.
  • Send Visco Injection authorization requests to supplement pre-certification representatives.
  • Cover other areas in the office as directed by the manager.
  • Cover Provider jellybeans and voicemail as needed or requested.
  • Maintain knowledge of fax logs.
  • Attend required meetings and participate on committees as requested.
  • Read and respond to email communications within an appropriate time frame.
  • Exemplify the desired culture and philosophies of the organization.
  • Identify weekly schedule, including schedule changes, published by the manager.
  • Handle specimens (including urine, blood, drainage from incisions, and aspirated fluids) and label accordingly; follow provider instructions to ensure specimens are sent to the appropriate lab for analysis.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED (minimum education requirement).
  • Active National Medical Assistant Certification preferred.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in a medical office preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical office procedures and medical terminology.
  • Computer skills including MS Office Suite.

Pay

$16.00/hr - $24.00/hr.
