About the role

The Medical Assistant position at Rocky Vista University Health Center in Ivins, UT, is seeking a Full-Time candidate to join our team.

Responsibilities

  • Verify patient information by interviewing patient; recording medical history into EMR; confirming purpose of visit.
  • Prepare patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests; taking blood pressure, weight, and temperature; reporting patient history summary.
  • Perform office procedures such as IM/SQ injections of medications, including vaccination. Spirometry, EKG, phlebotomy, urine tests, throat and nasal cultures and others as needed.
  • Secure patient information and maintain patient confidentiality by completing and safeguarding medical records; completing diagnostic coding and procedure coding; keeping patient information confidential.
  • Aid Health Center Physicians by assisting with office procedures and minor surgeries. Perform simple wound management.
  • Schedule patients for tests, follow-up appointments. Triage patient calls and counsel patients by transmitting physician's orders and answering questions.
  • Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
  • Clean and sterilize materials and instruments following universal precautions. Keep equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.
  • Keep supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt. Prepare examination rooms; select, setup and maintain medical supplies and equipment for all examinations and procedures.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • 1-3 years previous medical assistant experience (not to include externship)
  • 3 years’ experience as a medical assistant preferred
  • 1-3 years experience in a primary care or internal medicine office preferred
  • 1-3 years experience with electronic medical records preferred

Pay

$20.00 - $22.75 per hour. A quality bonus is available to employees who demonstrate exceptional patient care, teamwork, and adherence to safety and quality standards. Eligibility is based on measurable outcomes such as protocol compliance, reduced readmissions, and strong performance evaluations.

Schedule

This is a Full-Time position.
