Responsibilities
- Aid the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner with daily activities related to participant health and well-being.
- Collaborate with the Admissions Manager to complete all paperwork and UDS intake within 24 hours of admission.
- Triage residents presenting health-related complaints.
- Take routine vital signs.
- Ensure all staff are trained in CPR/First Aid.
- Complete nursing assessments for all new admissions.
- Maintain the NP schedule.
- Ensure all consumers receive their medications.
- Ensure all residents obtain a Physical Exam (PE).
- Refer to Primary Care Physicians (PCP) for all outstanding medical needs.
- Ensure prescriptions for Medication-Assisted Treatment (MATs) are up to date.
- Maintain consumer medical files.
- Obtain vital signs as needed for MATs.
- Provide health education classes for consumers.
- Ensure consumers are educated on sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), including Hepatitis and HIV, and all communicable diseases.
- Maintain medical files in an audit-ready state at all times.
- Follow up with consumers regarding medication compliance.
- Assist with patient transports as needed.
- Assist the Nurse Practitioner with inductions.
- Manage and coordinate prescription medications, including ordering from pharmacies.
- Perform clerical duties such as answering phones and logging mail.
- Provide coverage for Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) meetings as needed.
Qualifications
- At least 2-3 years of experience in a community or residential setting.
- Pediatric experience is considered a plus.
- Experience working with culturally diverse populations.
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program and hold a State certification.
