About the role
Progressive Community Health Centers is hiring a Medical Assistant in Milwaukee, WI. This is a full-time position that does not require working holidays. Founded in 1999, Progressive Community Health Centers is an independent non-profit organization that operates four clinic locations in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, providing high quality, comprehensive care to roughly 16,000 patients annually.
We value a patient-centered philosophy and provide a range of services that include family medicine, internal medicine, women's health, urgent care, dental, radiology, and integrated behavioral health. We also offer supportive services such as case management, health education, and benefits enrollment.
Responsibilities
- Assisting and supporting staff, patients, and the community
- Informing scheduled patients of any delays due to physician's lateness, emergencies, schedule backup, etc.
- Anticipating need for assessment and monitoring of patients prior to and during examination, treatment, emergency, acute illness, or procedure
- Providing a caring environment and dealing empathetically with patients' needs and questions
- Greeting, assessing, and interviewing patients, obtaining past medical, surgical history, family history, social history, and complete set of vital signs
- Preparing and assisting patients for examination/treatment by medical staff
- Maintaining patient confidentiality
Requirements
- Knowledge of injection levels and procedures, for both children and adults
- Knowledge of universal precautions and blood-borne pathogens
- Ability to document clearly, patient vital signs and other information
Skills
- Obtaining vital signs
- Audiogram
- Phlebotomy - butterfly, venous heel stick
- Specimen collection
- Giving injections/immunizations
- Performing EKG
- CLIA waived point of care testing
- Nebulizer treatments
- Administering medications
