Responsibilities
- Prepare exam rooms and assist with cardiovascular exams, stress tests, EKGs, Holter monitor placements, and pacemaker checks.
- Take and record vital signs including blood pressure, heart rate, and oxygen saturation.
- Review and document patient history, medications, and symptoms accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Administer medications and injections under physician direction.
- Perform phlebotomy and process laboratory specimens.
- Provide patient education on procedures, medications, and follow-up care related to cardiology services.
- Ensure proper cleaning, stocking, and sterilization of exam rooms and medical instruments.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA)
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Able to maintain confidentiality of patient information
- Effective organizational and time management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and other applicable laws and regulations
