Requirements

  • Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Current medical assistant certificate or emergency medical technician certificate from an accredited teaching school and/or provide transcripts
  • Must maintain continuing education credits as required by the state employed
  • Ability to administer medications
  • CPR (Cardiopulmonary resuscitation) certification

Responsibilities

  • Works as part of the intake team to ensure patients are seen promptly
  • Observe urine samples for urine drug screens, test onsite and package for laboratory confirmation testing
  • Obtain vital signs and report findings to nurses when needed
  • Obtain blood samples for standard blood testing onsite and package for the laboratory
  • Communicate all relevant information to the leadership team regarding patients and the facility
  • Make appointments for patients to see physicians, counselors, and case managers, and provide lab work and referrals for additional follow-up care
  • May be responsible for cash collection and daily balancing
  • May be responsible for managing accounts receivable/accounts payable/deposits
  • Maintain security by following procedures, monitoring logbooks, checking in visitors, etc.
  • May be responsible for coordinating appointments for patients
  • May be responsible for running the PDMP for all patients as well as recording patient information at intake in the Central Registry for that State
  • Maintain and keep updated all medical records and documentation pertaining to the patients in the EHR as well as in any lab required software programs
  • May be responsible for dropping off lab work at a UPS drop off location if the driver does not come in to pick up that day
  • May be responsible for dropping deposits off at the local bank
  • Assists with Purchasing and ordering of medical supplies
  • Assists in education with pregnant patients about prenatal care and assists primary counselor in coordinating outside services as needed
  • Attend team meetings and complete all training courses timely as required
  • Other duties as assigned
