About the role
Partnership Health Center (PHC) is a Federally Qualified Health Center located in Missoula, Montana. We offer a wide range of primary care services and strive to attend to the social determinants of health. We are seeking a Medical Assistant to join our team.
Responsibilities
- Prioritizes patient needs in person and on the telephone.
- Manages patient flow and ensures clinic appointments are conducted on schedule.
- Conducts and records initial health interviews including health histories, medication reconciliation, and prepares patients for examinations.
- Gathers and records vital signs including temperature, blood pressure, height, and weight.
- Documents interactions with patients in accordance with clinic policies and procedures.
- Assists providers in minor procedures, including dressing changes, wound care, and first aid.
- Collects specimens, draws blood, and performs waived tests under the direction of a licensed health care provider.
- Maintains control logs for patient testing.
- Prepares and administers prescription medications, including immunizations, in accordance with CDC regulations and guidance.
- Communicates with other health care providers and coordinates referrals to specialists and outside lab testing facilities.
- Refills prescriptions per provider directive and documents in the electronic medical record.
- Maintains clinic work area and equipment, including cleaning and sterilization.
- Completes other supportive duties directed by the care team, including paperwork, cleaning of patient rooms, sterilization of equipment and supplies, and organization of supplies.
- Assists with material management and stocking of areas, inventory, and ordering.
Qualifications
- High school graduation or GED.
- Experience working as a Medical Assistant or in a healthcare setting preferred.
- Current Healthcare Professional BLS certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.
- Immunizations or proof of immunity to certain infectious diseases and a TB test.
- Criminal background check with fingerprinting.

- Knowledge of medical assisting procedures in accordance with the Medical Assistant scope of practice.
- Medical terminology and interviewing methods.
- Medical office practices, procedures, and techniques.
- HIPAA compliance.
- PHC Corporate Compliance Guidelines.
- Collecting blood and urine for laboratory specimens.
- Using patient assessment equipment (thermometer, blood pressure cuff).
- Using an electronic medical record and personal computer (word processing).
- Administering immunizations.
